When I became a wholesale member and started using Young Living products, I never imagined I would one day have a home-based business with the company. I simply wanted to use the products and get them for the best possible price.
Fast forward five years, and here I am. It wasn't long before I saw the benefits of sharing about these fantastic products that were helping me to achieve my clean living and natural wellness journey.

The only requirement of having a business is to become a wholesale member, and to spend 100PV each month in order to earn commission. I was doing that already! If I shared about my oils and signed even one person up each month, I was able to make enough off of the commission to pay for a portion of my oil habit. By signing up two members, I was getting my 100PV order for FREE.
That's right. FREE products each month. Free supplements, skin care, makeup, and the list goes on. THEN, after I signed them up, I was able to make a commission off of their sales every month.
After the first couple of sign ups, who were as excited about the products as I was, the true value of having a Young Living home business really struck me. We have been blessed to be able to have this business, where I am my own boss, and I am able to stay home with our boys.

YOUNG LIVING BUSINESS MODEL
Its Young Living a MLM?
Yes. Young Living is a multi-level marketing business model. Don't let this scare you. MLM is just one of many different business models a company has to choose from. In this case, Young living desired to market and sell directly to their customer base, rather than going through a third party distributor. This makes sure they are always in charge of what goes on. No contractual obligations, etc. in order to get with a good distributor who can market and sell their product to the masses. No one pressuring them to change their formulas or to bend in their strict values and farming practices to meet a certain market. This was the best option in order to keep the company pure.

This business model also makes sure that everyone who is selling the product is actually using the product. Personal usage recommendations, etc. count for a lot when discussing YL products with others.

One of my business professors once told me that if I were smart, I would find a good MLM I believe in and create a business. That is how he would choose to invest his time and money if he were to start all over. It took me a few years to understand the wisdom of his words, but I get it now.

Is Young Living a Pyramid Scheme?
NO. Young Living is FAR from a pyramid scheme. A pyramid scheme involves an exponential number of "investors." The person who starts it recruits a certain number of people; those people then recruit additional people. Each lower level of recruit sends money up the pyramid; the person on top is
​getting a little bit of money from a lot of people. There is no product or business activity--the recruitment process is the only economic activity. Theoretically, as long as there are new recruits, this can keep going indefinitely.
Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) are different. While it superficially seems like the above, there is actual product being moved. And most of them do in fact require "recruits" this is all still, in the end, moving a product. Unlike a pyramid scheme, one can make money without recruiting anyone; they just need to sell a product.

Do I Have to Carry Stock?
NO. The beauty of Young living and the business model is that your initial starter kit when you become a member, and your personal order each month are your only financial requirements for business. Members can have a wholesale or a retail account , and they order product on their own. Your job is to simply let them know about the company and educate them on the products. Education is the only thing you need to stock up on.

Is There a Heavy Time Investment?
Depends. You generally get out of things what you put into them. There will be some leg work and some office work, just to keep your taxes accurate, etc. but none of that has to be complicated or time consuming. The more successful you are, and the larger your team grows, the more time you may have to invest into them. If you treat your Business seriously and invest some time and a little effort into it to begin with, you will generally have more success.

What Growth Opportunities Are There?
Reach for the stars baby! You can check out Young Living's COMPENSATION PLAN and their INCOME DISCLOSURE statement from 2018. This gives you a general idea of how successful some Young Living home businesses have been. I personally know people who have become millionaires with this business, and others who simply do enough to get their oils for free. You do what fits your life and your family. Your success or failure depends on your willingness to educate yourself and your team and your desire to work at your business.
On top of the actual commissions made, as you advance, there are exclusive opportunities for the different levels of rank. Trips, gifts, etc. that are pretty awesome. Who doesn't love traveling across the globe on the company dollar?!
